David Tremayne is a freelance motorsport writer whose
clients include The Independent and The Independent on Sunday newspapers.
A former editor and executive editor of Motoring News
and Motor Sport, he is a veteran of 22 years of Grands Prix reportage and the
author of 42 books on motorsport. He is the only three-time winner of the Guild
of Motoring Writers’ Timo Makinen and Renault Awards for his books.
His writing, on both current and historic issues, is
notable for its soul and passion, together with a deep understanding of the
sport and an encyclopaedic knowledge of its history. He is acknowledged as the
world expert on the history of land and water speed record breaking and is also
passionate about Unlimited hydroplanes. He is the British representative on the
FIA Records Commission, and the driving force behind the STAY GOLD speed record
jetcar programme.
He continues to travel to all the Grands Prix from his
home in County Durham.
